How does water get to your village in Costa Rica?
We are evaluating three possible systems to guarantee water supply to the village:
- Bringing water by road: This system involves the installation of a pipe that directly supplies a certain number of villas. Water would be transported through underground pipelines along the village’s main streets, ensuring a constant and reliable supply. Each villa would have a private connection to the main pipe, allowing autonomous management of water consumption. This method is advantageous due to its simplicity and ability to ensure uniform distribution of water.
- Collect rainwater and filter it with electronic systems: This option is based on the collection of rainwater through special systems of gutters and tanks, followed by an advanced filtration process using electronic systems. The rainwater, after being collected, would be purified to make it suitable for domestic use. This system is ecologically sustainable, reducing dependence on external water resources and promoting the efficient use of natural resources.
- Create a well within your own parcel: This solution involves creating individual wells within each parcel of land. Each owner would be responsible for building and maintaining their own well, which would provide water directly from the ground. This method offers water independence to each villa, allowing residents to manage their own water resource. However, it requires a significant initial investment and proper maintenance to ensure water quality and quantity.
Each of these systems has specific advantages and disadvantages, which we are carefully analyzing to determine the solution best suited to the needs of the village and its residents.
